【简 介】 粘虫Mythimna separata(Walker)，异名Leucania separata，鳞翅目，夜蛾科。别名剃枝虫、五彩虫等。
【寄 主】麦、稻、粟、玉米等禾谷类粮食作物为主。
【为害特点】幼虫食叶，大发生时可将作物叶片全部食光，造成严重损失。因其群聚性、迁飞性、杂食性、暴食性，成为全国性重要农业害虫。1、2龄幼虫白天隐藏于草的心叶或叶鞘中，晚间取食叶肉，形成麻布眼状的小条斑(不咬穿下表皮)。3龄后将叶缘咬成缺刻，6龄为暴食期，能吃光叶片，食量为整个幼虫期食量的90％以上。幼虫老熟后喜欢在含水量15％左右的松土中化蛹。
【生活习性】粘虫无滞育现象，只要条件适宜，可连续繁殖和生长发育。粘虫发育1代所需的天数以及各虫态的历期，受温度影响很大，因此各代历期不同。在自然情况下，第一代卵期6～15天，以后各代3～6天；幼虫期14～28天，前蛹期1～3天，蛹期10～14天；成虫产卵前期3～7天；完成1代需40～50天。成虫羽化后需进行补充营养，取食花蜜以及蚜虫等分泌的蜜露、腐烂果汁及淀粉发酵液等，对糖醋液的趋性很强。

DESCRIPTION
The Oriental Armyworm, Mythimna separata Walker, it is an international pest, attacking many agricultural plant species. The EGGS are off-white, laid in groups low on the leaves, often between in the sheaths or on the blades. Young LARVAE are green, later brownish with a thin pale dorsal line, and with dark lateral lines on each side. The PUPA is brown, and formed under surface litter in the soil. The ADULT MOTH has brown forewings with dark specks.
HOST PLANTS
It is a serious pest of many graminaceous crops. Host plants in the Gramineae are Andropogon, Brachiaria, Dactylis, Echinochloa, Oryza, Panicum, Saccharum, Setaria, Triticum, Zea.
DAMAGE
The Caterpillars feed on the leaves, leaving only the midrib uneaten.
